Located among the traditional houses of Sag Harbor, New York, 109 Glover has an interesting history as it was the first modern house built in the area. The home renovation project for a family of four who has lived here for more than 10 years was carried out by Alicia Murphy Design and Craft + Modern.

The home's living room has minimalist lines and a neutral color palette. The layout is balanced, harmonious and cozy with a combination of sofa, armchair and tea table, creating a tight layout for a cozy living area. Modern fireplace design, made of marble creates a highlight. The main cream white color scheme makes the space look spacious and airy, combined with elegant black and wood panels.

The kitchen area is luxurious and well-organized thanks to carefully selected furniture with a simple design, typically wooden kitchen cabinets and tables, luxurious marble countertops and kitchen walls, stove and oven. At the same time, the contrast between materials and colors creates depth for the overall space.

The biggest challenge of the project is the land area and construction limitations. To overcome this, the design team cleverly arranged the common and private living spaces in an optimal way. The bedroom for two girls is designed into a large room with bunk beds, opening to the staircase area, creating a spacious space for the children to play and live.

The highlight of the house is the white oak staircase. The homeowner's initial request was to create a large glass wall on the front of the house. However, this solution limits privacy. Therefore, oak panels are used for the stairs to create enough ventilation and individuality while also creating a beautiful visual effect thanks to the striped pattern created by light and shadow.

The project is a harmonious combination of modern, minimalist style with materials and traditions of the Hamptons. The house brings comfort and warmth to young families, meeting the homeowner's desire for a space that is both modern and imbued with local characteristics.
