About The Studio
Alicia Murphy Design is a full-service interiors firm rooted in the beauty of Hamptons design — from its architectural heritage to its modern spirit. We embody East End living in our choice of quality materials, fabrics, colors and textures that reflect the landscape and lifestyle. As the design element of your local team, we shine when we work alongside architects, builders and landscape designers. Our local suppliers, artisans, fabricators and services provide all that’s needed to develop, design and complete the home you want.
Residential projects can be complex — we clarify and simplify the process for you. We begin by listening to the way you live and learning how your home should feel and function. We seamlessly lead you from conversations about creative vision through design and coordination of local construction. We draw on a deep pool of local and global resources, including the best manufacturers of fabric, wallpaper, furniture and millwork. Working within a clear and transparent time frame, we track everything from costs to schedules. We’re conversant in the languages of architecture and construction, because technical expertise and project management skills are crucial to realizing a project’s full potential.
About Alicia
Known for interiors that radiate confidence and calm, Alicia Murphy is inspired by the natural beauty and laid-back lifestyle of the Hamptons, where she lives and works. Since founding her Amagansett-based firm in 2014, she’s earned a reputation for delivering understated spaces with a sense of easygoing elegance.
Alicia understands the nuances of each Hamptons Town— from the period homes of Sag Harbor to the modern farmhouses of Wainscott. Working alongside architecture and construction teams from start to finish, her firm has mastered the art of whole-home renovations and designs on tight deadlines. The process is not just practical but a pleasure, leading to long-term relationships. Many clients have hired Alicia and her team to design their homes in New York City and beyond.
Conversant in historic East Coast architecture, Alicia grew up on the North Shore of Long Island in a 19th century home. Her grandmother, an interior designer in Puerto Rico, taught her the importance of breathing new life into a space, whether using antiques in new ways or bringing hotel luxury to a home. Today, Alicia excels at modernizing spaces without losing the warmth and charm of the original details that give a home depth.
Drawn to both the eclecticism of American architecture and the simplicity of Scandinavian design, she composes environments that reflect the surrounding landscape. Natural materials, livable fabrics and tailored details create casual yet sophisticated spaces. Rooms flow from the indoors out, forming comfortable areas to live, work, entertain and gather. Whether a sanctuary from the city or simply a reprieve from the stresses of daily life, a space designed by Alicia Murphy invites unhurried ease. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Hamptons Magazine and Cottages & Gardens, among other publications.
